Japanese beverage brand Calpis has introduced a visually striking bottle concept that transforms an everyday drink into a collectible art experience. Once the bottle is emptied, consumers are rewarded with beautifully illustrated anime artwork revealed inside the container.
The special bottles feature paired anime-style illustrations printed on the interior, designed to become fully visible only after the drink has been consumed. When filled, the milky-white Calpis beverage obscures the artwork, creating a “hidden” effect. As the bottle empties, the illustrations gradually appear, encouraging fans to finish the drink to complete the reveal.
Each bottle showcases coordinated pairs of characters, carefully positioned so the artwork aligns cleanly when viewed through the clear plastic. The designs emphasize soft colors and detailed linework, complementing Calpis’ long-standing image of freshness and youthfulness while tapping into Japan’s strong anime culture.
The concept has quickly drawn attention online, with fans sharing photos and videos of the bottles after finishing their drinks. Many have praised the idea for blending product design, illustration, and interactivity, turning a disposable bottle into something worth displaying or collecting.

This initiative highlights how Japanese brands continue to innovate through packaging, using anime-inspired visuals to create memorable consumer experiences beyond the product itself.
