Digital manga publisher and reading platform Azuki has officially announced that it will henceforth operate under the new name Omoi. The change, made public on November 13, 2025, affects only the brand name and visual identity; the company says the underlying service—including catalog, payment model, pricing and user experience—will remain unchanged.

According to a press release issued by KiraKira Media Inc. (the owner/operator of the service), Omoi is launching a new domain (omoi.com), a revised logo and color scheme, and an updated app listing ("Omoi: Manga Reader") in the iOS App Store and Google Play. All links previously pointing to azuki.co will redirect to the new name.

Why the name change?
The name “Azuki,” though well-received, had become the source of confusion: multiple companies in other industries were using that name, leading to branding overlap and user/partner uncertainty.

From the press release it says:

The new name “Omoi” comes from the Japanese word 想い, which can loosely translate to “thought,” “feeling,” or “emotion.” The company says this better encapsulates its editorial mission of connecting readers and creators through expressive storytelling.

Co-Founder and Licensing & Marketing Director Evan Minto said: “The name represents a new phase for us, as we greatly expand our catalog in 2026… It also reduces the brand confusion around our old name.”

Service continuity and growth plans

Existing subscribers will not see changes to their account, subscription terms or pricing. The service still offers a free ad-supported tier along with a Premium plan (reported as US $4.99/month) and annual discounts.

Since its launch in June 2021, Azuki built a niche presence in the English-translated manga space, partnering with smaller Japanese publishers and licensing original works. Under the new name Omoi, the company signals a push to expand its catalogue significantly in 2026, while maintaining its focus on curated, quality content rather than broad mainstream titles.

The platform proudly cites a library of “over 550 manga series, with new chapters updated daily.” Some of its cited titles include:

  • My Dear Detective: Mitsuko’s Case Files by Natsumi Ito

  • Natsume & Natsume by Shunsuke Sorato

  • You’re So Sloppy, Hotta‑sensei by Mao Nakada
In print publishing, Omoi (formerly Azuki) has partnered with major houses: e.g., with Scholastic’s Graphix imprint for Crescent Moon Marching, and with Penguin Random House’s Ink Pop label for Our Aimless Nights.

With the shift to Omoi, the company behind Azuki is seeking to cleanly draw a line under its initial phase and open a new chapter — under a name that better resonates with its purpose while offering continuity of service. For existing users, nothing practical changes beyond the branding. For the platform itself, the next few years will be a test of whether it can scale its catalogue, stand out in the crowded manga-digital space, and maintain the boutique, curated appeal that differentiated it originally.
