Rie Takahashi Performs cover of Oshi no Ko Opening Song "Idol" by YOASOBI

Rie Takahashi, the voice actress of Ai Hoshino in the anime Oshi no Ko, has performed a cover of the opening song “Idol” by YOASOBI. The cover was released on the official YouTube channel of Oshi no Ko on February 2, 2024.

The cover was also teased during the Oshi no Ko stage at Jump Festa 2024, where Takahashi expressed her love for the song and the anime. She said that she was honored to sing “Idol”, which is a hit song that topped the Billboard Global charts last year. She also said that she enjoyed playing Ai Hoshino, the legendary idol who is reborn as a baby in the series.

Oshi no Ko is an anime adaptation of the manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish). The story follows Gorou, a gynecologist and idol fan who witnesses the death of his favorite star, Ai Hoshino. He is shocked to discover that she is reborn as his daughter, and decides to raise her as a new idol. However, he soon realizes that the entertainment industry is full of secrets and lies.

The anime is animated by Studio Doga Kobo (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie) and directed by Kazuomi Koga (Aho-Girl). The first season aired from April to June 2023, and the second season is currently in production. A live-action drama and movie adaptation were also recently announced.
