Rascal Does Not Dream is a Japanese light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji Mizoguchi. It began publication in April 2014 under ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint, with English releases licensed by Yen Press.
The series was later adapted into an anime produced by CloverWorks. Its first television season, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, aired in October 2018, followed by the sequel film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl.
The story continued through theatrical releases, including Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out (June 2023) and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid (December 2023), which adapt later light novel arcs.
The franchise then returned with its second television season, Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, which aired from July to September 2025 and serves as the latest completed anime installment, adapting the University Arc of the series.
A new sequel film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend, is currently scheduled to premiere in October 2026, continuing and concluding the story.
